The smoke control element equivalent to an ‘S’ rated fire door is what needs to be re-instated if nominating a fire curtain. Smoke curtains must not be nominated as an alternative to fire doors or fire curtains.

A smoke curtain tested to BS EN 12101-1 does not perform to the required smoke performance as an ‘S’ rated fire door or equivalent performing fire curtain tested to BS EN 1634-3.
